Founded by Ruth Seibert, the Seibert Genealogy & Research Library holds a treasure trove of information about Elizabethtown’s rich past. Whether you are new to genealogy or a seasoned researcher, you will have access to resources most people never find:

About Ruth Seibert

The library is named for Ruth Seibert, whose passion for preserving Elizabethtown’s genealogical and historical records inspired the creation of this resource. Her vision was simple: give people the tools to discover their family stories and connect with their heritage.

Before You Visit, Make a Reservation

Our librarians are dedicated volunteers, so we ask you to call ahead to schedule your research visit. This ensures we have someone available to help you and that you get the most out of your time.

Come prepared with as much information as you have about your research subject:

Names (including maiden names, nicknames, spelling variations)
Approximate dates (birth, marriage, death, arrival in America)
Known locations or towns
Any family documents you already have (photos, letters, certificates)
Questions you want answered

When You Arrive, We Will Help You Search

A librarian will be on hand to guide your research using:

Online databases with expanded historical records

In-house physical records — our collection of documents and archives

Specialized resources — tools that help dig deeper than general genealogy sites

Together, you will navigate the library’s resources and discover what is available about your family.

Research Fees

For Museum Members:
Free research access at all membership levels

For Non-Members:
We suggest a $5/day research fee

This modest fee helps fund the purchase of specialized programs and online databases that expand your research beyond what is available on-site. Your contribution directly enables us to add more resources and serve researchers better.

Museum membership includes unlimited free research at the Seibert Library, plus free admission to the museum and special events.

Individual Membership: $25/year
Family Membership: $40/year
Patron Membership (includes NARM card): $100/year
